tape-in-extensions-vs-clip-in-extensions

Hair extensions work small miracles, taking hair from short to long, or from thin to lustrous. At Flirt Urban Salon in San Diego, we get a lot of questions from our clients about what the best types of hair extensions are. Below we’ll explain why we love tape-in hair extensions, and how they compare to clip-in extensions.

Tape-In Hair Extensions

Tape-in hair extensions are quickly becoming the most popular semi-permanent method of hair extensions. Tape-ins are typically the least expensive of the semi-permanent options and they usually look the best (in our opinion) because they lay flat on the head, making them almost completely undetectable.

At Flirt Urban Salon, we offer easihair pro tape-in extensions which are made from 100% cuticle intact Remy human hair and come in a variety of colors and lengths. These extensions have the cuticles intact and aligned in one direction, which helps them to look completely natural.

When it comes to hair extensions of any kind, how they’re applied can make all the difference. Bad installation of extensions can make your hair look bumpy, loose, or tangled. Tape-In extensions must be done by a hair professional, which helps to ensure your extensions look seamless and beautiful. At our San Diego salon, our stylists are certified in applying easihair pro extensions, so you know your hair is in good hands.

Your long, voluminous tape-in hair extensions stay put about 6-8 weeks, depending on how you care for them. Best of all, your extensions can be used over and over again. When you come in for a touch up, we’ll remove them, re-tape them, and place them closer to your scalp. Viola!

Clip-In Hair Extensions

Some people like clip-in extensions because they can be done at home. This can be good for skilled DIY-ers, but some women don’t find the process very easy and end up with less than satisfactory results.

Clip-in hair extensions usually don’t take as long to apply as tape-in extensions, but because they’re temporary, they don’t stay put as long as semi-permanent tape-in extensions and have to be reapplied each time you want to use them.

These extensions are also not ideal for those with thin hair, as the clips can be bulky and show through. They can also add more weight to your hair, causing them to fall out most easily or damage your natural hair.

Clip-ins also should not be used during many common activities like swimming, exercising, or sleeping. On the other hand, tape-in hair extensions can be used during most activities.
