PETCO Park:

PETCO Park, home of the San Diego Padres, is not only one of East Village’s greatest attractions, it also played a major role in fueling the revitalization of the neighborhood when it opened in April 2004. When there are no baseball games, the stadium is still a local hotspot. The Park at the Park is nearly three-acres of open park, with trees, a picnic area, and a mini baseball diamond where kids can emulate their favorite baseball players. PETCO Park also hosts major events including concerts and festivals. Past performances at PETCO Park include legends like the Rolling Stones, Madonna, and Paul McCartney. Embarcadero Marina Park South:

Located by the San Diego Convention Center, this gorgeous bayside park boasts views of the famous Coronado Bridge and the San Diego Bay, and has a fishing pier, basketball courts, and gazebos. On any given day, you can find East Village residents basking in the San Diego sun on the grass, or playing a game of frisbee. During the summer, Embarcadero Marina Park South is home to Bayside Summer Nights, outdoor concerts from the San Diego Symphony and special guest artists.

Nightlife in East Village:

With Downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter just a few blocks away, the nightlife near East Village is some of San Diego’s best. How about a speakeasy? Noble Experiment is a bar hidden behind a secret door inside Neighborhood bar. For a night out with the girls, we love Omnia Nightclub with it’s rooftop cabanas and chic modern lounge and dance floor; The Oxford Social Club, an avant-garde nightclub located at the new Pendry hotel; PARQ on 6th and Broadway in the Gaslamp District; Bootlegger with it’s 1920’s speakeasy feel; and Rustic Root’s rooftop bar for craft cocktails.

Central Library:

If you’re a book lover, The Central Library should be added to your agenda. It’s steel lattice dome top can’t be missed. Opened in 2013, this nine-story San Diego Public Library includes a huge auditorium, a three-story domed reading room, a 9,100-square-foot children’s room, a teen center, and a technology center. The Quartyard:

Opening soon at it’s new location at 13th and Market, The Quartyard is an outdoor food and drink venues constructed from repurposed shipping containers. This urban park includes large beer-garden-style tables, food trucks, a stage for live music, and a dog park. Balboa Park:

Okay, so Balboa Park isn’t right in the heart of East Village, but it’s one of our favorite places near Downtown San Diego and is less than two miles away. Balboa Park is a National Historic Landmark with 1,200 acres of lush gardens, walking paths, museums, Spanish architecture, recreational facilities, gift shops, and restaurants.
